Hello,
my name is Claudio, from Italy. I just found this forum while searching for informations about works published in France by our author Curt Caesar (Kurt Caesar, Corrado Caesar, Caesar Away/i, Jack Away).

Unfortunately I don’t speak french, and I can only write in italian or english, but I will try to provide a rough french automatic translation.

My interest for Caesar stems from my general interest in the italian journal "Il Vittorioso", which had Caesar among his founding authors (the other two big ones being Sebastiano Craveri and Franco Caprioli).
I have an ongoing research on the journal and its publisher (catholic italian publisher A.V.E.) which originated from my interest and love for the work of Sebastiano Craveri, but extended to many aspects of the comics productions of the wartime years (roughly 1937-1947) from all the various countries which already had a comics production of their own.

Bonjour,

Welcome in our forum,  piccic !

Kurt Caesar is quite forgotten in France. I've been interested by his comics, but it's very difficult to find his works in the french magazines. It doesn't exist any book, and the newspapers are old and expensive. All amateurs need therefore a lot of time (and money) to get these works.

What do you expect of us ? I do have an incomplete list of Caesar's publications in France, edited in a french "fanzine" name "Hop". Does it help you ?

Overwhile, I must confess : I wrote two articles in my blog about Kurt Caesar, some years ago, even if I'm not a specialist. You can find this text at the address below :

Hi Raymond,
many thanks – that is much appreciated!  pouce

As I said, my interest is not strictly related to Caesar (which, however, seems to have produced a lot of material for the french market, beginning with the Editions Mondiales by Cino del Duca, which have also published the early translations of american comic books both in France and Italy).
It is rather an interest at large in all the italian authors which did work for France, but also – as I said – in comics/BDs of the 1930s and 1940s, especially related to the wartime period (as related to France, it could be very interesting to see what has been published under the nazist occupation).

I have no particular expectations – if there are topics I find more of interest, I will ask, for now many thanks for the links, I will check them.

I am also a big fan of Jacobs, and of Willy Vandersteen, whose work has unfortunately published in very limited form in Italy.

I will get back in short to tell more about Caesar’s huge amount of works published in Italy.

I will be very pleased to find out the works of Kurt Caesar and the "fumetti" of the Vittorioso.

I've created a special  topic, dedicated to Kurt Caesar and the Vittorioso.  The discussion will therefore go on at this address.

This is my first incursion in a french-speaking forum. I am a bit scared…  Shocked
But you are speaking english, that’s great (it wouldn’t be so expected in an italian forum).

My only trip in french-speaking comics territory has been once, in a visit to the Sierre comics convention (in French Switzerland) where I bought some tomes of Astro Boy (which was still unpublished in English and Italian) and some original editions of Luc Orient (which I have to read yet, but I should). Smile
